What is Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength 2% w/w Gel is and what it is used for?
Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength 2% w/w Gel contains the active substance diclofenac which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is specially formulated for rubbing into the skin and has enhanced skin permeation. The active substance targets deep inflamed tissues.
Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength 2% w/w Gel is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in a number of painful conditions affecting the joints and muscles, e.g. sprains, strains and bruises, relieving pain quickly, including moderate to strong pain, and helping recovery to normal function.

How to use Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength:
For adults and adolescents over 14 years of age:
Apply the gel 2 times a day (preferably morning and evening) on the painful area.
Please read the Patient information leaflet for directions on how to apply the gel correctly, ensuring to avoid accidental contact with the mouth and the eyes.
Warnings and Precautions:
Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength 2% w/w Gel is for use only on the skin. You should not use this gel for more than 14 days. If the pain and swelling do not improve within 7 days, or if they get worse, tell your doctor. Seek advice before using if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, breastfeeding or suffer from allergies.

Gently rub or massage in a small amount of gel into the skin around painful or swollen area. An amount ranging in size from 1 penny to a 2 pence piece will usually be sufficient. However, the amount of gel needed will vary depending upon the size of the painful or swollen area (maximum daily dosage 8g). Apply 2 times daily (preferably morning and evening) unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you otherwise.
Consult your doctor if pain and swelling do not improve or worsen within 7 days. Do not use the gel for longer than 14 days unless longer treatment has been recommended by a doctor. The gel is not recommended for use in children under 14 years of age.
Voltarol Emulgel Extra Strength 2% Gel gel has a pleasant smell and will not stain clothing. It is neither greasy nor sticky, and is easy to rub into the skin.
