What is Otrivine Adult Nasal Spray and want is it used for?

Otrivine Spray is for application in the nose to give relief from nasal congestion (blocked nose, including colds), perennial and allergic rhinitis (recurring inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes, including hay fever) and sinusitis. Otrivine Spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride which helps to open up and clear the nasal passages by reducing the excessive nasal secretions and returning the swollen blood vessels to their normal size.

How to use Otrivine Nasal Spray:

For Adults and Children over 12 years of age: One spray in each nostril 3 times daily as needed. Do not exceed 3 applications daily into each nostril. The last dose can be applied before going to bed.

What you need to know before using Otrivine Nasal Spray?

Do not use this medication:

• If you have ever had a hypersensitive reaction (e.g. rash, swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing) to xylometazoline or to any of the ingredients listed in Section 6 in the patient information leaflet
• If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
• If you have recently had brain surgery.
• If you have had your pituitary gland removed.
• For a child under 12 years old.

Warnings and Precautions:

If you have any other conditions or you are taking any other medication, ask your pharmacist or doctor if Otrivine is suitable for you. This medication is not suitable to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
